KANODE.DOC
Notes on using KA-Nodes in FWD.MB for forwarding connects:
----------------------------------------------------------
(For use with W0RLI V9.xx and later software and Kantronics KPC-2, KPC-4 and
KAM with V2.85 ROMs or later.)

GENERAL INFORMATION
-------------------
This information is provided for those SYSOPs using Kantronics KA-Nodes in
their forwarding connect paths to remote BBSes. The W0RLI software is designed
to handle NET/ROM type connects automatically, but because the KA-Node issues a
sign-on message when accessed, has different status messages, and the W0RLI
software is not designed to handle this type of information, it is necessary to
implement a special sequence to handle these KA-Node connects.
ALTERATIONS TO FWD.MB
---------------------
The following is the standard sequence to be placed in the FWD.MB file within
a path list:
xC kanode-n
Sm destcall-n
R!
R!
R!
R?###LINK MADE
Where......
x = C or N depending on whether or not this is s direct connect (C) or a
connect made from a NET/ROM node (N) - see the FWD.DOC documentation
with the W0RLI software
kanode-n = call sign of the KA-Node with which you wish to be connected
(-n is the SSID, if any)
m = mode for KA-Node, C is a direct connect, X is a cross (Gateway)
connect (to the opposite port on the KPC-4 or KAM - if the GATEWAY
parameter is ON)
destcall-n = call sign of the next station with which you wish to be
connected (-n is the SSID, if any)
Examples of connect path records from FWD.MB:
CC K8AL-1 (make initial connect to NET/ROM node)
NC NG8P-1 (connect to the KA-Node from the NET/ROM node)
SC AD8I (make a direct connect to the destination BBS)
R!
R!
R!
R?###LINK MADE
FA0023AD8I
@C:\BBS\AD8I.FWD
*** EOF
OR......
CC K8AL-2 (make initial connect to NET/ROM node)
NC NG8P-1 (connect to the KA-Node from the NET/ROM node)
SX K1LT-2 (cross connect using other radio port via GATEWAY)
R!
R!
R!
R?###LINK MADE
NC AD8I (continue with NET/ROM node style connects)
FA0023AD8I
@C:\BBS\AD8I.FWD
*** EOF
Be sure to type in the required information, especially the "R?###LINK MADE"
line, EXACTLY as shown, otherwise the forwarding will fail!
SPECIAL CASES
-------------
Please note that you should test ALL KA-Nodes you use to be sure of the data
they send upon connect. You may need to make the following changes for those
KA-Nodes that have earlier ROMs (prior to V2.85) or have the NTEXT message set
to null:
Earlier KA-Nodes or those with V2.85 ROMs and NTEXT set to NONE......
Delete one (1) line of "R!" to allow for only two message lines being
sent upon connect.
Earlier KA-Nodes with a different prompt character - V2.85 uses a "?" but
earlier ROMs have a ">" instead......
Change the "?" (after the "R" in the LINK MADE line) to a ">" - this
is the prompt for some earlier KA-Nodes.
CONCLUSION

forwarding with the W0RLI Mailbox, pleae contact me via packet "@ KC8JN",
